Your first meeting
Come as you are. We’ll sort it out together.
Your first meeting is free and usually takes about an hour, in the office, at home, or by video.
What to bring
You do not need to have every answer. A rough list is enough to begin.
- A list of what you own with rough values, including home, accounts, retirement, life insurance, vehicles, and any business
- A copy of your home’s deed, if you have it. If not, we can pull it from the County Clerk-Recorder at no charge.
- Any older will or trust
- Names, cities, and birth years of your children and anyone else you want to include
- Who you would choose to handle things, plus a backup for each role
- A guardian for children under 18
- Your questions, written down
An optional two-page questionnaire is available if you prefer to fill something in beforehand.
Home and hospital visits
We come to you.
Claire can meet at your home, a family member’s home, an assisted living community, or a hospital anywhere in San Luis Obispo County, for both the first meeting and signing.
There is no charge for clients 80 and older or anyone who cannot easily get to the office. Otherwise, home visits are $175. Gloria, a notary public, comes along to every home signing.
Adult children helping a parent from out of town can join by video, with the parent present.
